Sonny! Rahsaan!
Seriously, watching this video is guaranteed to be the best 2 minutes and 26 seconds you could possibly spend today. If you don't think so, as Dizzy Gillespie put it, "Shame on you, baby."
I have to wonder if I saw this concert some time in 1975...and if it was a PBS show, or syndicated on commercial tv...I'm betting none of the commercial networks were champing at the bit.
According to Bret Primack, from whose YouTube channel I grabbed this video, "From the 1975 Downbeat Awards Show, Sonny Rollins and Rahsaan Roland Kirk play Nat Adderley's 'Work Song,' a tribute to the recently departed Cannonball Adderley. With McCoy Tyner, piano; Stanley Clarke on bass, and Lenny White on drums."
